Big Sister

Kate has been such a sweet big sister. She just loves Luke and wants to be near him and help him all the time. I know that she and Paige are kind of sad about his head. They seem to be getting used to it, but sometimes they still bring it up.

Yesterday I heard Kate say to her cousin, "Did you see Luke's head? When he gets older, the bump on his head will go away, and he's going to be perfect!"

I started to get emotional hearing her say that. She's so sweet.

Update on Luke

 Poor little guy :(

Tomorrow Nate and I are headed to Seattle Children's Hospital to see a specialist about the vascular malformation on Luke's head. I was surprised to find that we have to go that far to see someone who deals with things like this. I'm really hopeful that we will get a solid diagnosis and plan of action at this appointment. Wish us luck.

It is so incredibly stressful having a child with a medical issue of any kind. I went through this kind of stress when Kate was born, and that was rough (she has a liver condition called Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency). Thankfully, I have felt uncharacteristically calm and peaceful about this though. Don't get me wrong, there are times when I'm really terrified and just sad. But overall, I feel like things are going to work out somehow. He will probably need to go through some hard things (laser treatments or surgery, etc.), but I'm trying to have faith that he is going to be fine in the end.
