Update on Kate

In May, Kate had her blood drawn to see if her liver enzymes (called GGT's) were staying under control without medication. Unfortunately, they had actually gone up quite a bit, so we were stressed and nervous about what it could mean. Her doctor said they would check again in 2 months to see if they continued to rise, and then we would decide what to do.
For the last 2 months we have fasted and prayed a lot for little Kate. Yesterday, she had her blood drawn and... her GGT levels have gone down and are now within the normal range! Yay!! We are so relieved. We will continue to have appointments with her pediatric GI doctor every 6 months or so, but for now- things are good. I hope and pray that she will continue to do well and stay relatively healthy. She is such a happy, sweet little girl and we love her so much.

Our fun weekend

Last Thursday we met up with our BYU-Hawaii friends, Rob and Brooke. They live in Olympia and Rob was able to get us free day-passes to The Great Wolf Lodge. It's a hotel and indoor waterpark. Paige loved it. We could hardly get her to take a break to eat or relax. We were pretty much exhausted by the end of the day, but it was a lot of fun. I hadn't been on a tube slide in years, so that was awesome.

Then on Friday morning we all went to the Space Needle. Once again, Rob got us free tickets somehow. I think we will invite him along everytime we want to go site-seeing. :)

I love Seattle. I have never had a desire to live downtown in any big city, but Seattle makes me want to change my mind. It is so clean and fresh and beautiful. Unlike a lot of other big cities.

After the Space Needle, we headed straight for Anacortes, WA to hop on the ferry to San Juan Island. We had perfect weather the whole time and it was a great trip.

Nate and I ate at a fun little breakfast place in Friday Harbor, where we got a good look at the locals. Our server was a cute hippy girl. I wish my style was a little more funky like hers. I think my style is called Old Navy Clearance Rack.

Then we flew kites and watched whales. That was cool to see! I just wish we could have been closer. Maybe next time we will go without the kids and rent some kayaks.

We also walked around a lavender farm. Pretty, huh?
What a cool place to take pictures!

LDS Art

I really want to have some LDS art in my home. I think it would help bring the Spirit and a feeling of peace. The problem is that I just don't know where to find nice looking stuff. I'm sure Utah has tons of stuff, but I don't live there. I like paintings and photography or cool temple photos, etc. Do you know of any good websites with cool LDS art? Or any good LDS artists?

Hilarious

I just heard Paige playing with her dolls, and she said:

"OK, you need to get baptized, OK? So I'm gonna hold you in the water and take a deep breath."

She's hilarious.

Happy Birthday, Paige!

Paige turned 3 yesterday, so we had a fun little party with Nate's family. Paige was very particular about what she wanted for her party. For weeks she has been saying,

"There's going to be balloons, a princess cake, presents, games, I'm going to dress-up like Cinderella and wear make-up..."

So I tried to make all her dreams come true. :) Sorry- the pics aren't in chronological order.

The kids went "fishing" for prizes, over our fence, and the girls got princess jewelery. I put Nate in charge of that game and it was pretty funny. He kept throwing them off by putting random junk on their hooks. Too bad I didn't get pictures.

They had 15 seconds to put as many cotton balls in the other bowl as possible, using a spoon. It was pretty funny to watch. Nate gave Paige a little help, as you can see.

They loved decorating sugar cookies.

She really wanted a Cinderella cake, but I convinced her that she wanted Snow White after I found these figurines. Don't look too closely.
