Christmas Eve at Anthony's

On Christmas Eve, we had a late lunch at Anthony's in downtown Spokane. It was pretty fun, and I'm glad we did it since we didn't have much planned that day. We always love Anthony's.

Santa and the Reindeer

A few days before Christmas, we visited a nursery and met Santa and two of his reindeer. They were pretty cool to see in real life.

 

Luke's CT Scan

On Monday, December 22nd, we took Luke to Sacred Heart to get a CT scan. The specialist in Seattle wanted to be sure that his malformation wasn't any worse than they thought, and to make sure that his skull was completely intact. Thankfully, we heard back yesterday that it all looked good, and there were no surprises. So his surgery should be pretty straightforward. We are planning to have it done when he is between 6 months and 12 months old. We need to decided exactly when.

 

 

This is right before they put the IV in. He was so good! He wasn't able to eat for 5 hours beforehand, but he took it like a champ. He slept a lot and was really happy. His malformation looked abnormally large for some reason. It's usually not quite that big.  

Our nurse was so nice and caring. Great guy.

For some reason, it was kinda sad watching him fall asleep from the drugs. He was such a little sweetie though. He didn't seem scared or anything.

Mini-cheerleader

Paige found my high school cheerleading uniform in the basement, and she was pretty excited about it. It may look like it fits, but it was actually quite huge on her. She had to do this pose to keep the skirt from falling down.

I'd like to have a moment of silence in honor of my hometown, Gig Harbor. Love it. Miss it.

 

 

Additions to Luke's room

I stopped by TJ Maxx a couple days ago (I love that store) and I was so excited to find some cute nautical décor that matches the theme in Luke's room...

Luke's Room

I have always known that if I had a little boy, I would want his room to be a nautical theme. I've always been drawn to that. So here's what I've done so far...

 

 

 

I plan to hang a large oar under the shelf. I just need to find one first.

Paige and Kate's Room

For Paige's birthday (in July) she wanted a few more decorations in her room. I had very few things in it before. So here's what I did...

 

 

Luke's smiles

I love it when Luke smiles. Especially because it doesn't happen very often. Something that has been worrying me and Nate is that Luke doesn't make eye contact with us very often. When he does, it makes me so happy, but it just doesn't happen as often as I would expect.

 

A couple weeks ago, Luke had an appointment with a pediatric ophthalmologist. At his 2 month check-up, I pointed out to the pediatrician that Luke's right eye often looks outward. It makes me wonder if he has a hard time focusing on us. Our pediatrician referred us to the ophthalmologist, who told us that it's too early to say whether or not he has a real eye problem. Infants are sometimes delayed in their vision, and their eye muscles may need time to develop and strengthen. He said at 6 months we will re-evaluate and see if it's still an issue.

 

I feel like things keep coming up that worry me about Luke. I love him to death and I just hope that he is able to have a normal, healthy life. It's scary when you feel like your baby isn't seeing you or reacting to you. Hopefully I'm just worrying over nothing.

 

First snow of the season

It snowed on Thursday morning (November 20th) and the girls were pretty excited. It didn't stick around for too long, but they had fun while it lasted.
