So...

I just read that one study found that women with severe nausea and vomiting in the first trimester were 50% more likely to be having a girl.

I've had pretty bad nausea/vomiting with all of my pregnancies. I wonder if I'm having another girl.

From your experience, do you think this study is true? In the past I've heard that bad morning sickness means you're probably having a girl, but I just thought it was an old wives tale.

The most whiny post ever

I told myself I would not complain about morning sickness this time around, but here goes...

It seems like people think that you aren't allowed to whine about being sick when you're pregnant because: 1.) You brought it upon yourself. 2.) Many women cannot have children, so you should just be thankful that you're pregnant.

Well for the record, I am very thankful that I am pregnant and being able to have children is not something that I take for granted. But I am still so miserable right now that I can't not talk about it. I feel awful all day long. The only time I don't feel awful is right after I throw up. Every morning when I wake up, I am so sad because I know that I have to face the nausea right away.

To make things worse, Nate is leaving on a 9-day trip to the Philippines tomorrow. Just for fun. (He will be there with his old mission companion, who has been there many times.) So that's gonna be awesome for me.

It's probably best that I don't post much for the next few weeks because believe me... you don't want to hear it.

P.S. The good news: I get to have an ultrasound and my first prenatal appointment on Friday the 30th. Can't wait!

Paige's first day of Preschool

Paige started preschool on Tuesday at the Liberty Lake Athletic Club's "Fit Preschool." She loves it, of course. She was actually pretty nervous before I took her there the first day, and she asked if I would stay there with her. But after a minute or two she ran over to me, gave me a hug and said, "Bye, Mom!" I got a little teary at that point. It was hard to leave her with other people (even though they are great) and I started to miss her right away. But I knew she would have a great time. Each day, Kate has walked around the house calling, "Paige? Paige?" She looks all over for her. It's kind of sad. I love how they are friends now.

The preschool is 3 days a week for 2 1/2 hours. Half of the day they do educational things, and the other half is physical (swimming, dance, soccer, gymnastics, etc.). It seems like a great program and the teachers are awesome.

First Bee Sting

Poor Kate was sitting on the back porch the other day and she suddenly started screaming hysterically. I just knew she must have been stung by a bee. Sure enough her finger started to swell up and she kept holding it up and saying, "Ow-ee." Then she kept pointing up in the air and saying, "A bug, a bug." It was pretty sad. But after some ice and ibuprofen she was OK. Trying to eat the ice.

Big Sisters

Getting a good picture of these two girls together is impossible. Seriously. These were the best ones out of about 30 pictures. I had the girls wear these shirts to tell Nate the news. He didn't notice them at all. Pretty typical guy. :) Paige stood right in front of him with a huge smile on her face, waiting for him to notice, but nope. So finally Paige said, "Mom, can I tell him?" I said, "Yes" and she said, "Dad, we're gonna have a baby!!" She is so excited. Nate is excited too.

I really hope this pregnancy is smooth and uneventful. I realize it's always risky announcing the news this early, but it's a risk I'm willing to take. I'm just so happy about it! I'm due May 4th. So far I'm feeling really tired and I'm having major food aversions. Other than that, I'm great. I need to treasure these next couple weeks because around 8 weeks is when the sickness usually hits me.

And it only took 5,000,000 hours to make! I am honestly really happy with it, but I would like to mention that the lady who originally created it was somewhat deceitful. It did not cost her $1 because you need a TON of hot glue and I went through 2 average-sized novels and I still need some more pages to make rosettes to fill in around the outer edges. AND she didn't mention the fact that it takes seriously like 8 hours to make... or more. I should have logged my hours. I knew it would be a tedious project, but I had no idea how long it would actually take. Anyway, aside from those "minor" details, I really do love it and I'm glad I made it. You always appreciate the things that you work hard for, right?
