Something New

I've set a new goal for myself- to try one new recipe every week. I really need to venture out more. I will post the recipes here if we think they're a hit. Yesterday I made something new and we all really liked it. Here it is, if you want to try it:

Stove Top One-Dish Chicken Skillet

It was very easy, quick, cheap, and delicious!

If you're looking for a good recipe website, I love allrecipes.com and kraftrecipes.com. They both have a rating system, so you know if other people liked the recipes or not.

Kate Kate Kate!

I just love it when she smiles!

Still not sure what to do with her hair... :)

Trying to catch a smile

Kate has been smiling lately, but I can't seem to get a very good picture of it. These are a few from today though.

Mompreneurs

Definition: A female business owner who is actively balancing the role of mom and the role of entrepreneur

Do any other moms out there wish they had a way to make some money on the side? Or just wish you had a fun hobby that happened to make some money? I do. I know that being a mom is very important, and I am so thankful that I've been able to have my girls. But I constantly feel like I'm not contributing enough if I'm not making money- even just a little bit.

I'm always thinking about a business I could start, or a lucrative hobby I could take up. Nate is very business-minded, and I think he would love for me to do something also. But what? I've had so many ideas, but there is always a flaw with every one. My most recent idea is a dessert catering business from my home. It's a cool idea because you set the schedule and you only prepare things when an order is placed, so you don't lose money. Plus, you don't have to pay rent for a business space. I love baking treats and finding fun recipes (which isn't helping me lose weight), so I think I would enjoy it. The problem is that I don't know how I would effectively advertise and I don't know if I would get any business with the poor economy. Hmm...

Anyway, do any other moms feel this way? Being a mom is busy enough, but do you feel like you should be doing something more? I probably shouldn't feel like that, but I do.

What was I thinking?

Nate has been really wanting to go back to Hawaii ever since we left (3 years ago), but we just haven't made it back. I definitely miss Hawaii too, but not nearly as much as him. So a few months ago he brought up the fact that he would have 6 weeks off for "Paternity Leave", and what a great time for him to go to Hawaii. I was like, "Ok, sure... as long as you are here with me for the first 5 weeks."

What was I thinking?

He is leaving on Thursday morning, along with our Hawaii friend, Rob. (How do you feel about it, Brooke? :) They will be gone for 5 days. A few months ago, I would have been fine with it. But now that I have 2 little ones, things are a lot harder. I really didn't think it would be this difficult, and I completely forgot that you don't sleep well when you have a newborn. So yeah, it's gonna be rough. Just looking for some sympathy... Thanks. :)

Some recent pics

Paige loves to pose for the camera.

I'm not sure what to do with Kate's hair. Hmm...

Or Paige's for that matter...
