Surgery

Paige has had a clogged tear duct for the past few months and it hasn't gotten any better. She has teary eyes often, and excessive gunk in her eyes too. Lovely huh? Her pediatric opthomologist says she needs a quick surgery to clear out the duct, so on July 1st they will do the surgery and hopefully it will be successful. They are going to put a tiny probe down her tear duct and all the way into her nose to clear it out. I was sad and scared for her at first, but I'm sure things will go just fine and hopefully it will fix the problem!

That is interesting, because I had Lasik and they actually put a plug in my tear duct to prevent dry eyes which is common after surgery. So I have a silicon plug in both tear ducts. How do they do the surgery is she awake for it?

That is scary for your sweet little girl! I had a friend whose baby had to have that done, and they said it really wasn't too bad. Good luck though! And the pictures are too cute! I can't wait to actually meet her some day!

Man that stinks. I cant even handle when Patrick has a bad diaper rash and cries hard because it hurts. It will be difficult but you guys will be glad when the problem clears up.

that's crazy! i'm glad she'll be able to cry out of both eyes without gunkyness though. :) i have the same questions as Kristi - is she awake? can you be there?

It's crazy she has to get surgery and she's so little. Is it a quick surgery? There sure are a lot of things on your body that you have to worry about. Surgery for a tear duct- I never would of thought about it.

Poor girl!!! I hate having surgery when I know what is going on, I can't imagine a little baby!! Hopefully they let her have some "sweet dream" if you know what I mean. You'll have to let us know how it goes.

Hey Ashley!
Sorry to hear about Paige. I hope everything goes well. I can empathize with you. It's hard having a baby go through anything medical. Did you guys ever make it to Wenatchee???
